My first day in London!

So, after months of planning and days of packing I have finally arrived in London. Its all been exciting and a little overwhelming at the same time. I couldn't help but feel a little nervous as I got off the plane in Heathrow airport at 9:30 in the morning yesterday. Feeling a little jet lag, I wasn't really sure what to expect for the rest of the day, but it actually turned out to be quite eventful.
Brendan (my flatmate and very good friend since high school - for those of you who didn't know) picked me up from the airport, and with my two very heavy bags we headed on the tube to my new home in Fulham, a suburb a little outside the main city. Its kind of a trendier little town with lots of shops and pubs, and of course, a Starbucks. I was a little stunned to also find there was a T.G.I. Fridays right near our house! We arrived at out house where are room is on the second floor and Brendan gave me a little tour of the place, unfortunately none of the other flatmates were there so I didn't get to meet any of them at the moment.
Although I was a little tired from the trip, we decided to skip unpacking and meet up my our friend Chris that we both knew from Miami who is visiting his family here in London. We met him at Notting Hill where he grew up and gave us a little tour of the town. Its a beautiful and very high class area of London. From there we took the tube to the main city where the two boys gathered their knowledge of London and were the best tour guides as we saw all the sites. We started at St. Paul's Cathedral and walked across the Thames to see the London eye, Big Ben, Parliament, and Westminster Abbey. The weather, although cold, was actually pretty nice and I got lots of pictures with the sun setting in the background. We decided after a couple hours of walking to stop in a local pub for food and pints. Chris invited his British native friend Stewart to join us and it turned out to be quite a treat! He was very funny and kept us laughing for hours. Afterwards, we decided to go home to rest a bit, and then head back out to Notting Hill for a party Chris' friends invited us to. The party was lots of fun and we got to meet a lot of Chris' British friends! So, all in all I can say my first day was very successful.
Tonight is New Years and bunch of us will be going out to Camden, a little outside the city! Updates on that will come tomorrow!
